The opportunity
The EY Valuation, Modeling and Economics (VME) team is looking for market facing talented professionals with considerable experience in economic / ESG modeling (socio-economic, social and environmental measurement and valuation) and in ESG financing. Professionals who can help clients measure, quantify and in some cases monetise their value to and impact on society, assess the link and correlation to financial value and apply the insights to strategy development, decision making, fact-based stakeholder dialogues and disclosures. Other tasks will be on to assist in PPP, financial instruments analysis, PFI services for public and corporate clients and develop new financial instruments for Green finance, building efficiencies, H2. Furthermore to develop bid strategy & risk mitigation measures and build and deliver sophisticated financial structures to support PPPs and infra relates projects.
We are looking for colleagues to join us in Brussels as their home office. You will be working with corporate clients, governments as well as infrastructure investors and private equity clients.
Your key responsibilities
Our VME professionals provide robust quantitative analysis and insight, while leveraging financial, socio-economic and ESG impact modeling, advanced data science, mathematics and statistical skills, to provide robust, evidenced-based analytics to inform our clients’ strategic and operational decision making around all elements of the capital and sustainability agenda. Often reporting directly to a company’s most senior executives, we enhance our clients’ understanding of costs, benefits, societal value and impact, uncertainties and risks to enable more confident, strategic decisions and judgements around their strategic agenda and capital allocation. We employ tools and techniques to deliver predictive and prescriptive analytics and including the use of economic and ESG impact analysis and financial modeling solutions.
EY Valuation Modeling and Economics is part of EY’s Strategy and Transactions (SaT) practice, that advises clients in all aspects of capital allocation decisions, including Sustainable Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Transaction Diligence and Transaction Integration. To qualify for the role you must have
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in economic modeling and ideally also some experience with environmental and social impact measurement and valuation techniques (e.g. input/output modeling, impact statements, life cycle analysis, SROI);
- Proven working experience in a similar role in consulting industry, a public institution or a bank/financial institution. Working at EIB or European Commission is an asset
- Experience in financial instruments, green finance is a plus.
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as economics, econometrics, environmental science or economics, engineering or sustainable finance or related fields;
- Understanding of key sustainability issues and trends (carbon, circular economy, social-economic impact) and how they link to business value;
- Business case modeling: working on complex projects that require knowledge of business strategy, sustainability strategy and operations.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- High motivation and passion for sustainability and a demonstrated capacity to deal with ambiguity and overcome challenges;
- Strong technical, quantitative and analytical skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team and environment;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and preferably in Dutch, French, other language skills merited.
